Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is club soccer for my child?
A: Before your child tryouts for the Nor'easter, please be sure that you and your child are aware of the commitment to the club and team. When you commit to the Nor'easter- it is a whole year commitment.
Q: What is the cost to play for the Nor'easter?
A: The fees for the 2010-2011 season for Nor'easter is as follows and can be paid in in several installments over the course of the year. Unlike many other clubs, the fee includes everything (except the uniform).
Please keep in mind our fees are on average 50% lower than our on-field club soccer competitors. Our primary mission is not to make money (although we need to remain solvent), but to develop our youth. We remain committed to providing an affordable option to families and we did not raise our fees for the 2010-2011 season.
U10 - U14 - $985
U15 - U18 - $700
The fee includes: Fall and Spring competitive league fees (MAPLE or MASC), licensed coaching, indoor practice and league fees and at least one tournament per (fall/spring) season.
Q: Does the club offer scholarships?
A: As it is our philosophy not to turn away players for the sake of their financial status, we do offer a scholarship program. Scholarships are awarded based on need - not ability.
The scholarship application can be obtained from your team manager or at the annual registration.
Q: How often does a team practice & play?
A: All teams will practice two times per week beginning in August and play games on Sunday.
During the fall, U10-U14 teams, play 9 season games plus any qualifying tournaments they may have to enter. The regular season runs from September to mid-November.
During the winter season all teams (U10-U18) will practice 1 to 2 times per week and/or play at least one session of either indoor soccer or futsal .
During the spring, U10-U18 teams, play 7 season games plus any qualifying tournaments they may have to enter.
Q: How can I help with fundraising?
A: Individual team fund raising is available for all teams that would like
to participate in approved programs. Please use the Board of Directors
page to contact our club Directors of Fund raising for more information.
They will explain the programs that are available and help to guide you
to a successful campaign. Remember, certain events are reserved for club fund raising. These events are: dinners and dances, raffles and corporate website sponsorships.
Q: What can I do with my Shaw's receipts?
A: Turn your Shaw's cash register receipts into club CASH!!! Parents collect your Shaw's register receipts and turn them over to your Team
Managers. Ask your family, neighbors, friends, and co-workers to help. Shaw's will reward Nor'easter 1% of the receipts we submit so that we may
continue to offer players now and in the future the benefits of our
soccer club.
